New to Bento

Cleland Photography 9:56pm, 21 September 2010
Hi! I am excited because my husband bought me my first bento for my birthday (this past Sunday) and I have started packing. My first attempts have been fairly uncolorful as I've been doing leftovers, but I've done a lot of reading/research finding out how to brighten things up a little. I also bought another bento at the local Japanese market and some fun supplies including a microwave veggie steamer (which I'm totally ecstatic about).

I just want to say that this group is a great inspiration to those who are new to bento such as myself. Such great ideas! I just look through the photos and smile:-) and when I see one that isn't "pretty" I appreciate that I'm not the only one who isn't overly decorative. Such variety! So much to learn :-D

Welcome, you will love it! I've been doing them for about 5-6 weeks. Don't worry, you will become good at it very quickly!

Hi cleland08

I am new to the group too...and somewhat to making bentos.
I'm sure you'll learn a lot just by viewing the photos. I have learned a lot in the short time I've been bentoing and love finding new recipes!

I'm sure we'll both have fun here.

Hi there! I'm so glad you joined, this is a really friendly community. This article: pippasfoodblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/benefits-of-bento.html
Has a good bit on the difference between a lunchbox and a bento- It's just advice I found really helpful when I was starting out condensed into bullet points. I hope you like it. :)

Happy bento making!! ^_^
