Microsoft Edge - Log In to Flickr

Stuart Smith_ says:

For some reason I cannot log in to Flickr using Microsoft Edge browser.

I have seen past posts about the same problem but all are at least two years old. Despite that, I have followed all advice given to no avail.

I have the latest versions of the browser but keep getting the message:

"Oops, something went wrong...... "

Chrome and Firefox present no problem whatsoever.

Any constructive help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My usual check list for any web site log-in issues on any browser is -
1 - Turn off (or adjust) my no scripting browser extension.
2 - Turn off my ad-blockers.
3 - Try different cookie settings when on the website, e.g. accept all
4 - Recheck native, internal browser settings. Sometimes these get reset to a stricter default, esp after a Microsoft update.
5 - Clear cache and cookies. Close browser and start over.

Not something I usually need to do, but check your auto-fills or typed log-ins for minor errors, like spaces before a password, missed digits (1111 versus 11111) or incorrect capitalization.

9 times out of 10 I find my log in problems are caused by my No-script or Ad-blockers on FF. About 1 in 10 it's a website issue. Remember to re-set ad-blockers, etc. when done.

Hope this helps.

Stuart Smith_:

I made a test: I logged out and closed my favorite Opera browser.
I logged in using Edge (no extensions installed). Successfully!
Now I am using Edge to write this comment...

I am afraid that your problem may be both (at the same time) browser- and account-specific.
I think that only Flickr Support Heroes can help you with this one.

Are you using the original Edge? Or the chromium Edge?

I could use the Chromium based Edge to log in without issue, so this one:

And you are not going to tell us what it was, in case it happens to one of us?

Thanks for dropping back in & letting everyone know!

Viejito:

And you are not going to tell us what it was, in case it happens to one of us?

The fix in this case required a tweak on the back end. If you're receiving this "oops" error & general browser troubleshooting outlined here doesn't help, send us an email so we can take a look.
