verizon sells aol and yahoo

alapmi says:

I saw a 7 hour ago article that says Appolo Global Management has purchased AOL and flickr for 5 billion. This maybe inacurate; as I would think smug mug would have known and warned the free uisers if there is a change. Can anyone verify if this is inacurate?

There is no reason for SmugMug to warn anyone about this. Flickr has not had any association or affiliation with Yahoo/Verizon since SmugMug acquired it. (That was the whole point.)

In other words, your headline "Verizon sells Flickr" is not correct. That is what already happened a few years ago or whenever it was.

Verizon sold AOL and Yahoo. As mag3737 said, Flickr has not belonged Yahoo since SmugMug bought it from Verizon several years ago.

The article I am seeing mentions Verizon selling Yahoo and AOL, not Flickr:

....for the simple reason, mentioned by mag3737, that Verizon already sold Flickr to Smugmug in April 2018;

EDIT - jschumacher beat me to it....

Hi there,

Also confirming what other members have mentioned here, we joined SmugMug back in 2018, and no longer have any affiliation with Verizon/Yahoo.

Thanks for jumping in!
