My Flickr account has been compromised

sjb4photos says:

Several days ago I was forcibly logged out of Flickr. When I entered my password to log in, Flickr did not recognize the password. I changed my password and logged in, only to find that there were numerous glitches in my account.
- More that one half of my photos only show as white space. A few of them can be clicked on to see them. Others simply show as a black void.
- I lost most of my contacts but not all.
- All of my photos have been removed from groups (I can still add photos to groups they are not in).
- All of my galleries are only white space.
- I retain the faves that I have made, but my contacts apparently have lost all of my photos that THEY have faved.

I have been told that Flickr can do a backup of my photostream. Is that possible?

Thanks for your kind attention. Stephen Brown

Flickr stores a whole bunch of copies of every image, in different sizes, so that they can be quickly used for various display purposes throughout your site (thumbnails etc.). It looks like just a HUGE swath of this image cache associated with your photostream vanished.

This doesn't necessarily explain your contacts "losing their faves of your photos" ... unless what that actually means is that if someone has faved one of your photos, what they see on their faves page is a white blob.

Anyhow, contacting staff as mcnod said will get this cleared up.

Why don't we have 2FA yet? Is it that complicated to implement it after moving to Amazon servers?

Aamir Bilal:

1. FWIW, the problem of the OP here did not actually have to do with their account being "compromised" in any sense that 2FA would help address. It was a database/image cache glitch.

2. Staff comment about status of 2FA from a few weeks ago:
