Recent Activity: How Do I Remove Someone's Photo That I Commented On From This Page?

Veee Man says:

Previously, on the Recent Activity page, there was an option to remove an image from that page.
Where did that go?

I commented on some people's photos, & after me, A LOT of other people commented on that photo.

I used to be able to remove those photos from my Recent Activity page, but I can't anymore.

Do I need to change one of my settings to have this option?

Probably best to continue any discussion, pro or con, over at the official topic

FYI - to save some time, here is a composite of what I posted over there. I rewrote it after someone could not find the "Gear Icon"

Re: Is the mute option gone? The definitive answer - Yes and No

Below is the process, as I see it, under the "new" notice system

Click on the white Notification Bell.
There is a mysterious Gray Thing* to the right.
Click on the mysterious Gray Thing.
You should see "Account Settings"
Then click on "E-mail and notifications"
You will find a list of items with on-off toggle switches
One is - "Comments on photos you’ve commented on"
Another is - "Comments on your photos"
Adjust accordingly...

*To me, the mysterious Gray Thing also looks like ...
A settings icon, just like Google.
A studded snow tire
A donut with spikes
A piece of rigatoni pasta
A part from an old pocket watch
A timing gear, if you drive an old Jeep

This works fine for items in the new Notification Bell, but. as far as I can tell, it does not mute any comments which appear in the legacy drop down Recent Activity list. So, yes, the mute button is kinda gone, at least on the old menu. Comments from Flickr suggest that the legacy Recent Activity drop down menu will eventually be phased out.

Hope this helps

I absolutely relied on the 'Mute activity on this photo' option. Without it, the whole concept of monitoring activity gets lost in a deluge of comments and awards that I have no interest in seeing. Unless the option to mute activity on individual photos is restored, I can't see myself making any use of this new Notification Centre. It's that simple.

If I've understood the problem correctly the "mute activity on this image" option in Recent Activity has disappeared, but you can achieve this by going to Notifications.

Find one of the list entries for the image you want to mute, to the right of its icon/thumbnail there are three dots ... click on those and select mute, this also mutes it in Recent Activity.
