New notifications are slow?

Is it just me - Or do the notifications (new and improved) take forever to upload?
When using the old "Recent activity" - I'd usually get the result more or less straight away.
But with the notifications, I have to wait. Sometimes (if I haven't been online for a couple of days) for more than a minute.

Yep, slow, slow, slow! I think it's loading 14 years of of my notifications every time I click on this! I tried to delete one notification at a time beyond the one year mark and found that this may take weeks to do, so I stopped doing this after removing up to the 2nd year. Bad design work! :-((

Mind you, I have never seen any suggestion of what specific thing Flickr may/may not be doing on the back end to make things better for a particular person. So I actually think it's possible that people report perceived improvement that was actually due to factors over which Flickr has no control (network connections or wahtever).

Either way, it can't hurt to do what Flickr staff have been requesting that everyone do which is
1) NOT report it here
2) DO report it directly to staff via the Help "Contact Us" page.
