We go about our lives in our daily routines, but when we pick up a camera, we become image seekers, chasing light and chasing moments, so that we may go back to remember and share them with others. Though life is fleeting, there is a sense of permanence in a photograph, and an ability to convey the emotion of a memory that can live on. Whether the subject is landscape, wildlife, portrait, urban or some other genre, my goal is to create visually compelling images that evoke the viewer's feelings. When that happens, it is special.

I share my EXIP data and techniques if it can be helpful to others. There is nothing all that special about camera settings. The camera is just a tool. The most important equipment in your kit is your vision. That is unique to every individual.

Remember to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

A few weeks ago, Alfred wrote a testimonial for me. I've waited a while, so it won't seem like I'm "just returning the favor". In truth, Al is one of my very favorite photographers on Flickr and one of my best Flickr friends. It's hard to pick a thing that I like best about him, but one of things near the top of the list is his willingness to learn new techniques and experiment with new genres. And every time he does so, he quickly excels. Some of the trickiest and most difficult to master shooting and processing skills don't seem to be a problem to Al. Night skies, birds in flight, lightning, low light, abstracts, he has great work in all of these methods. He welcomes constructive critique, though there is seldom anything to offer in way of criticism. I love his respect for nature and for his fellow photographers. I also love his enthusiasm. Only someone with the highest level of enthusiasm would drive 24 hours straight to get to a place and then, in the middle of the night, immediately start taking pictures. I appreciate that his comments are always insightful with frequent touches of humor. Al is an excellent photographer and clearly a great guy!
