Hi, I am Charles Dastodd, a photographer and writer located on Chicago’s Southside neighborhood of Hyde Park for the past 8 years. I am currently finishing my PhD in the Humanities at the University of Chicago. I frequently travel around the Midwest, the South, and the Atlantic Northeast, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. I also have an MA in Philosophy from Tufts University.

I currently have several on-going projects, including a collection of pictures I took while visiting Kolkata, India in Dec and Jan 2009-2010. Kolkata is an amazing city, full of people, poverty, and beauty and is a particularly meaningful place to me. I have two other projects underway as well. The first is a set of portraits taken in the snow, ice, and cold titled “Faces of Winter”, and the second is a series of night shots featuring my main town Chicago. You can also expect to see a variety of pictures I have taken in recent years including trips to Costa Rica, Finland, and the UK.

I really enjoying taking pictures, particularly of people, landscapes, and architecture. I am available for portrait sessions as well as for special events or other customized photo requests to fit your needs. If you are interested in having any photo work done, please do not hesitate to contact me.
