A few years ago I rediscovered my passion for faces telling some story.

I collect these portraits on the streets while waiting for the right moment. In an affort to make intimate portraits of beggars and homeless people I'm talking with them to capture the real emotion in them. They have lot of stories to tell. The loss of a job, a marriage breakup, ill health, mental problems... can result in people on the streets. By and large, people don't choose to be homeless. Those are stories where I usually learn something new. I want my images to tell the story of people, whether homeless people or not. I especially look at their eyes, feel empathy and sometimes give them money. I let them tell their stories through pictures.

Once someone wise remarked: You cannot take a bad image and make it into a good one by using any processing technique, HDR included. I stick to the principle.

Ales does the most amazing portrait photography I have ever seen. Especially his black and white work. The expressions, the lines, and especially the eye the eyes. You can almost read the stories in the photographs without reading the actual details.

The gallery of portraits of beggars by ALES DUSA ( I write his name in capital letters because he deserves it) is truly exceptional. They are psychological portraits where, in spite of the distress of these people, a deep humanity can be perceived. Thank you ALES DUSA.

A great message of love and peace and magistral portraiture lesson . Besides technical skills , portrait needs to get the soul and liberate what can be buried in it , hope ,faith , communication .

There are no b&w portraits on the Flickr platform which are more expressive than those of Ales Dusa. The individual life story is engraved on each face. And these stories are probably pretty sad to hear. Thank you Ales for sharing your photos with us.

Life is fragile. And at any moment, an unfortunate fact, it can change our life forever. Everyone, we are exposed to this. The separation in a couple, the loss of a loved one. Lack of work or not being able to pay a mortgage, the expropriation of a house, the lack of a home. Any cause can lead a person to live on the street and often to abandon himself as a person, to lose self-esteem. Enter the path of misery and finally get to live on the street... A road that unfortunately, most of the time, has no return, can no longer go back. This idea is what Ales tries to explain in each of his photographic works. Each portrait shows us a face, with features, scars and wrinkles, each of which explains a bitter experience, a problem not overcome, abandonment, lack of self-esteem... the cruelty of this modern and unsupportive world in which we live. Photographing these faces, cannot be done by everyone. Only a person capable of understanding this problem can only be done by a person who has an enormous and special sensitivity. That's why Ales is able to make these portraits. Because Ales is a person with great sensitivity and a very understanding and generous person. And you have to add, in addition, its potential virtues in photography and in all the editing techniques that you use for your photographic works. But only from sensitivity, can this problem be understood and taken to an image. Ales' portraits, they may seem hard, are not portraits of beautiful people. And yet his photographs are wonderful, they show another beauty, because Ales is able to capture in each face, the noble feelings of these people. Faces and wrinkles that show us affection, candor, tenderness, helplessness, sadness, anger, madness, joy, despair... and a long list of feelings... as many as different types of people there are. Ales is able to perform these masterful jobs because he is a person with a lot of sensitivity. Ales is an extraordinary and wonderful person. A good person. And above all he is a great friend. I consider him a great friend. I think Ales has one of the most impressive and beautiful galleries in Flickr. I would say the best. One of my favorites. Congratulations on your gallery and your impeccable and wonderful photographic portraits, Ales. Your friend Francesc
