In his caravan

A dog/pet/house sitter and handyman living in his caravan, on Rob's farm with his 5 rescued dogs and their 9 ten-month old puppies.
A vague plan brought me here, to Flickr, where I was welcomed with a warmth that bowled me over. It's a great place to be, if you know what I mean. The inspiration, talent, connection, encouragement... friendship here... shared... across the oceans... across our cultures and politics...
I love a snap of a slice of real life captured on a cheap (or not so cheap at all) phone as much as an image created by a 30,000 hour Guru who loves equally, that moment they both captured. Both are magic. Both touch me.
Me, I take oodles of pics when time allows. in fact more, the more I learn.
Rob became a lifelong friend very soon after I arrived on his farm last year — a place he kindly offered on which I could gut and do up my big old American RV. My plan was to renovate it sufficiently to call it my home, say goodbye to Rob, then — between handyman and dog sitting jobs — travel in it, and explore the UK and Europe . Rob changed that, then Covid.
I’ve never met a kinder person nor lived through a stranger time
If you watch his rescue of a blue tit fledgling you’ll get a flavour of his deep care of wildlife and animals of every kind.
He’s a subsistence arable farmer who depends during the colder months on selling logs coppiced from his land. That's why I'm busy right now, helping him and earning my cut to get by. No that's wrong. Selfishly, mostly, it's a lucky privilege to be here.
So, my loose vague plan emerged to raise awareness and eventually, to somehow raise some funds to help Rob care for his rescued dogs. Then in the spring, the pups popped out — 10 of them — completely unplanned and the progeny of Pippa and huge, irresponsible, unpredictable, chemically castrated Simba. Pussycat Simba, Lexie and Skye adopted me and now follow me everywhere... I'm a lucky man.
The plan is still on. I'm struggling with it — against my weaknesses which are not profound. But I'm slowly getting there. Enough for now.
There's a video on Youtube of Rob's puppies. Any feedback, hints and tips will be greatly appreciated.
(Oh... and by the way, when I'm busy on the farm — which is most of the time — or away doing handyman work or dog-house-sitting, it takes me ages to follow up a new follower, never mind reply to lovely comments; so please bear with me for at least a month or so :-)

Rick, you are one of the kindest, brightest-spirited, most forthright (you always tell it like it is) and most generous-hearted peopleI have met on Flickr. I was just minding my own business and out of the blue, I read a very thoughtful comment on someone's photo and thought to myself, "well, that is certainly a very thoughtful person." And I was right. And you have the most intelligent, comical and simply beautiful pups and doggies I have ever corresponded with AND..... (there's more? Yes, of course there's more) not only are you an original, inventive, observant and inquisitive photographer, but despite your demanding workload, you put a lot of effort into commenting on photos by your contacts. So don't forget to rest, take it easy every blue moon, and stay well! Thank you for your friendship. May 21, 2021Read less
