Reciprocal follows and likes
First of all, I don't do them. If I follow you, it's because I like your pictures. I don't expect you to follow me. Ditto with likes and comments. My faves and comments are genuine. I expect genuine faves and comments in return. Let me repeat that: I expect genuine faves and comments in return. If you fave or comment on one of my pictures, I'll visit your photostream and I'll scan the first 20 or 30 pictures. If I see something I like, I'll fave it. And if I really like it, I'll comment. But I guarantee nothing other than I'll visit your photostream.
About my captions
I consider the job undone if I don't put some information on the picture or in the tags (and I really wish you would too). Sometimes it's a lot; sometimes, it's just the location. Speaking of locations, I usually put the GPS coordinates on my photos. If it's a private location, then the coordinates may be approximate (center of town or housing development, etc.). Unless indicated otherwise, the coordinates refer to where I was standing when I made the picture - sometimes I'll indicate the direction I was shooting.
The pictures posted here are downsized from the high-res versions. Information on licensing high-res versions or purchasing prints is on my blog. I do occasionally license my pictures for free but only upon email request. Again, see the licensing page on my blog (above).
So, about me...
I'm a retired professional speaker who specialized in sales and use taxes. And yes, it's WAY more complicated than you think. I have enjoyed photography for almost 60 years, have sold a few photos, and do the occasional photography class. However, I prefer to maintain my amateur status. I have been fortunate to work all over the USA. I literally have worked, slept, and taken pictures in all 50 states.
Please comment. However, I will delete your comment if
1. You mock the people in the photographs. That's my job.
2. You post a spammy kind of link (that'll probably get you reported and blocked too).
3. You post a picture - even a thumbnail. I appreciate the comment, but I really don't like pictures cluttering up the comments.
I may block you if:
1. You have nothing in your profile, no icon, no favorites or groups (or they're disturbing) and only one or two pictures posted.
2. Your profile indicates, in any way, that you're "looking for love."
3. You're a spammer.
4. You're trying to game the system by being a serial faver or following way more people than you could ever interact with.
Thanks for stopping by
Thanks for viewing my photos. All those comments, views and favorites make me feel all warm and fuzzy. I'm glad you enjoy them.

Jim is the quintessential renaissance man of photography. With much experience he gladly helps others and manages several flickr group including the West Suburban Chicago Flickrers, a very active group of photographers. I particularly enjoy how he documents the places he travels in photographs. Often very artistic and always technically top notch, I recommend his photostream to you for a great variety of photographic subjects, techniques and, best of all, a wonderful sense of humor.Read less
