Hi there. And thanks for visiting my photostream.

About me? Hmm? Well, like a good many people on Flickr, I imagine, I dabbled in photography (film) back in the day - as an undergrad in Ottawa and later, while doing my MFA in Edmonton, as circumstances dictated. Then there was a brief but intense period from 1990 to 1991, in Toronto, when the trusty old Praktica 35mm film camera I "inherited" from a former girlfriend was my constant companion. The telephoto lens and various filters I purchased from the original Henry's on Church Street in Toronto was a testament, at least in my mind, to how serious I was about photography.

Alas, I all but forgot about photography until I purchased my first digital point-and-shoot camera for a journalism course I was enrolled in in 2002/2003. Still, it wasn't until the passing of my maternal grandmother in June of 2005, just shy of her 100th birthday, that I decided to revisit the joys of amateur photography. Using a sizeable portion of my small inheritance from my Nan, I purchased my first DSLR, the stalwart Canon 20D, which I still lug around as a backup to my Canon 50D.

BTW, I welcome any and all comments and criticisms of my photographs. Just keep it civil, please (lol). Oh, and for the record - sorry I'm new to this site - all photographs viewed herewith are the sole property of Michael David James and may not be copied or reproduced, by any means, or used in any manner or context without my express permission.

If, on the other hand, you are interested in purchasing a larger, high resolution copy of any of my photographs, please email me at: michaeljames693@hotmail.com.
