Northern Harrier 9595

This is a first for me - while I've had the privilege of photographing a few harriers over the last several years, they've all been female. What an absolute delight to finally see a boy! Per Audubon, the harrier hunts by flying close to the ground and taking small animals by surprise. They have keener hearing than other hawks: the disk-shaped face clearly seen here enables them to amplify sound.
