Into The Shadows
Day of the Dead
In daylight, I wear a mask.
Hoping to veil what I want to put into my past.
Veiling myself with the lie
That it was a phase;
That it cannot last.
After the sun fades,
The mask is replaced by night.
The one I deny becomes the one I am with.
The one I've denied comes through the mist.
She comes to my side.
Maybe one day
This part of me will no longer be one I hide.
I will walk without fear.
I will stare into the sun;
Unashamed to show who I am;
What I have become.
