Redwing - Turdus iliacus

This was the redwing that was approaching me nicely the other day moments before the little pony wandered between us obstructing my view. I managed to fire this 'grab' shot off just in time.

I always think the thrushes stand very like soldiers on parade when they are checking out their surroundings like this one is ...... head up and chest out like a sentry on duty.

This analogy fits in quite nicely with redwings and fieldfares which often seem to have an appointed individual as lookout for the rest of the flock. That one of course is the blighter I never see giving it the opportunity to send them all up and away when it see's me coming !
